Strawberry Fayre – review
Our annual Strawberry Fayre, held on Sunday 12th July, once again proved to be a wonderful summer occasion. Combined with our monthly Tea at the Tower, the event welcomed nearly 80 visitors to the Tower site.
The hot weather of the previous week was replaced with warm sunshine, and the dappled shade beneath the trees, combined with a light breeze, was able to keep everyone comfortable. It provided an ideal setting for friends and families to relax and enjoy the historic surroundings.
Our volunteers served a delicious selection of refreshments, including teas and coffees, strawberries and cream, freshly baked scones with jam and cream, and our popular homemade Summer Fruit Punch, prepared on site.
It is particularly pleasing to see that Tea at the Tower is becoming a regular meeting place, where people know they will receive a warm welcome and can enjoy good company in a unique setting. Many visitors simply relaxed in the beautiful surroundings, chatting with friends old and new.
The day would not have been possible without the support of our volunteers. We were especially delighted to be joined by several new volunteers, whose enthusiasm and hard work made a real difference. We are grateful to everyone who helped with setting up, serving refreshments, welcoming visitors and clearing away afterwards.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event. We hope you enjoyed your visit and look forward to welcoming you again soon.
Our next Tea at the Tower will be on Sunday 9th August. We hope to see you there!
