Green Flag Award – 2024/25
We’re proudly celebrating our official designation as a ‘Beautiful historical, well cared for historic community gem’ – not our words, but those of the Green Flag Award ‘Mystery Shoppers’ who visited the site in early October.
They concluded, ‘Well done to all involved!’ The Green Flag Award is the recognised standard for well managed green spaces all over the world, and its reports highlight the best places to visit and enjoy.
We’re found to be welcoming and accessible, safe and secure, well maintained and clean, having a positive impact on the environment and biodiversity, and engaging well with the community.
We’ve received consistently good feedback over the years from Green Flag. ‘A lovely peaceful site with a rich history’ (2017). ‘A wonderful peaceful peaceful haven which doesn’t ‘feel’ like it’s situated on a busy road’ (2019).
‘A fantastic example of community led regeneration and restoration of local heritage and green space. Praise and plaudits for the tireless work of the Trust and for their members and supporters’ (2023).
So rejoice with us when you see our Green Flag Award pennant 2024 flying!
Next event on site is our winter ‘Hour at the Tower’ from 4.30 – 5.30pm on Saturday 14 December, when we’ll be putting the Christmas lights up on our ancient yew tree, singing South Yorkshire carols and serving lots of mince pies and mulled wine! More details to follow.
