Sir Paul Smith Visit
Highly respected international fashion designer, Sir Paul Smith, made an informal visit to the Tower and grounds on May 15th 2009. Born and raised in Beeston, he still retains links with the area and was interested in finding out how the project was progressing. In his subsequent letter he wrote:
"It is really fantastic to see how the work has turned an overgrown rundown Tower and grounds into something that is a real asset to the village and a welcome place to view, picnic and meet people. In these current times I think it is extremely important for a community to pull together and I hope you will be successful with your application for Heritage Lottery funding as securing these funds would obviously enable you to continue your restoration and be of enormous benefit to Bramcote."
He spent about three quarters of an hour at the site and chatted with ease and interest to the small group of Friends, sculptor Andy Smith and Jason Mordan, Conservation Officer, Notts. County Council. Click on one of the small photos at the bottom to see it full size.
